Al Bender, the face of Trencor
international sales for many years, retired from Astec Underground/Trencor on
June 30, 2011.
“Al is well known and widely respected
in the trenching industry,” says Joe Cline, Astec Underground/Trencor
president. “He has been a tireless promoter and staunch believer in the Trencor
product line and a valuable asset to our company. We hate to see him go, but
we’re also excited for him as he begins this new chapter in life. We wish him a
long and happy retirement.”
Al’s service with Trencor caps a career
spanning more than 25 years in the trenching business. He joined Trencor in
January 2000 as vice president of manufacturing. He accepted the roll of
general manager in 2002 when president Roger Eve left the company, and he
oversaw the move of the company’s operations from Grapevine, Texas, to Loudon,
Tennessee. He joined the sale team in 2003 where he has served in a number of
roles — most recently as international sales manager for the Middle East and
Asia territory.
He will continue to work with Astec Underground/Trencor on a
consultant basis as needed.
