The aggressive spread of its bite allows it to more than just scratch the soil surface. Strong, sharp teeth are positioned to tear through the toughest digging conditions with ease. But beneath the skin of this vicious beast lurks a docile design. It's simple. The Raptor design eliminates the extraneous components common to other chains on the market. There are no spacers, spreader bars, or other components needed. It’s a k-style chain, which means that the teeth mount to the top of the bare chain versus the side of the chain (m-style chain). The various types of teeth bolt or weld directly to the chain. Only one length of bolt and one size of lock nut are needed for all the configurations. This means there are fewer parts to stock and service. Bolt head protectors ensure easy access and serviceability. It's strong. The Raptor low-profile chain design is highly resistant to normal wear and tear on both the chain and teeth. In fact, in tough field trials, the teeth have been shown in most cases to outlast the chain. The 1.65-inch chain is an anti-backflex (ABF) design, which reduces roller wear. It can be configured with an ABF four-pitch cup teeth spacing—an industry first—for smooth, sure digging. The relatively light weight of the Raptor assemblies helps to reduce trencher drive component wear and allows the trencher to use more of its available horsepower to turn the digging chain faster, increasing production. It's efficient. The Raptor slices through soil leaving a trench that is precision cut and free of excess material. The dirt drag is standard on bolt-on or welded shark and rock chain configurations, providing a cleaner trench. The dirt relief hole is standard as well, which means there is less material packing to gather in the chain and sprocket. And it makes less noise than other chains during trencher operation.
